CONTRACK large-scale crossing plates are part of a system technology for dedicated crossings – long (up to 17 meters), double, or curved. They are designed for the efficient implementation and reliable operation of road and tram connections exposed to very intensive, heavy use.

Prefabricated tram crossings

The CONTRACK prefabricated tram crossing is a ready-made construction system in which the track and surface elements are prepared in advance in controlled production conditions and then delivered to the investment site for quick integration.

Unlike traditional methods, where the crossing is constructed in stages on site, here the key elements are pre-engineered and fitted as a whole. The reinforced structure accommodates intensive use, including heavy vehicular traffic.

Design

Dedicated Construction

Prefabricated CONTRACK crossings are manufactured in the dimensions and shapes specified in the design, adapted to the local track and road system. Advanced construction with traditional, hybrid, or composite reinforcement and a carefully formulated concrete mix ensure the durability of the monolithic structure, even under heavy use. 

CONTRACK technology enables the construction of:

  • up to 17 meters of length of one prefabricated slab 
  • adaptation of crossing slabs to the local geometry of the track system, e.g. prefabrication in a curve or with cant
  • possibility of producing plates with integrated track spacer
  • integrated mounting of rails and fastening elements
  • the ability to adapt the surface (e.g. asphalt, cobblestones) to the road function
  • compatibility with the prefabricated pavement technology system along the entire section

The entire system is designed as a coherent infrastructure element that eliminates problematic interfaces between different technologies.

Modernization

Prefabricated systems designed with future use in mind

CONTRACK prefabrication technology is particularly effective in modernization projects, where it's crucial to minimize disruption  to existing infrastructure and complete construction as quickly as possible. The rails embedded in the prefabricated crossing slab can be replaced without damaging the concrete surface, extending its lifespan. Rail replacement can be performed on weekends, without disturbing the slab's structure.

Production under controlled conditions ensures high quality workmanship and repeatability of design parameters.

The use of proven material technologies (including solutions supported by SIKA) translates into:
  • high resistance to dynamic loads
  • durability of the track surface and structure
  • geometric stability during operation

Additionally, the design enables effective maintenance work without the need to interfere with the entire crossing system.
