Kraków - Straszewskiego/UJ Junction

18.03.2026

Modernization work near the Jagiellonian University junction in Kraków encompasses one of the most challenging sections of the city's downtown tram infrastructure. The project is being carried out on Straszewskiego Street (from Smoleńsk Street to Piłsudskiego Street) and Piłsudskiego Street – in the immediate vicinity of historic buildings and green spaces, where available workspace is significantly limited.

The scope of work includes a comprehensive reconstruction of the track and associated infrastructure, including road surfaces and drainage elements. Due to the central location and intensive use of this section, not only the quality of workmanship is crucial, but also efficient organization of the work and minimizing its impact on the surrounding area.

In this case, the entire system is made of 52 prefabricated elements with a total area of approximately 660 m², creating a coherent structure "assembled" directly on site. The largest of them weigh over 21 tons, underlining the scale and complexity of the project.

This is an important project for us – not only because of the scope of work, but above all, because of its location. The presence of CONTRACK technology in the heart of Krakow confirms that our solutions are effective in environments where the demands are the highest and space is unforgiving.
