Ruda Śląska - Chebzie tram terminus with CONTRACK prefabricated elements

CONTRACK technology, awarded the Nowkuński Prize at the TRAKO Trade Fair, is back in Silesia! This time, prefabricated turnout plates were installed in Ruda Śląska at the Chebzie loop.
 
Single turnout.
Total number of panels: 3.
Area: 41 m².
Construction took place in March 2024.
 
 
Tramwaje Śląskie has once again decided to use prefabricated turnout panels manufactured using CONTRACK technology. This solution was first piloted in Bytom. The successful prototype installation led to further development of the technology. In 2023, the innovation received the Nowkuński Award at the TRAKO Trade Fair, and in December of the same year, two more prefabricated turnout panels were installed at the Forteczna Depot in Poznań. In March 2024, prefabricated turnout panels were also installed in Ruda Śląska, near the renovated Chebzie Loop. It was here that the design presented by the KZN Bieżanów Group at the TRAKO Trade Fair was delivered.
 
 
On March 25th, the turnout slabs were installed, and the next day, a technology installation demonstration took place at the European Union Roundabout, during which the slabs were adjusted to the designed grade line and a self-leveling, quick-drying mortar was pressed in. In the next stages, the turnout was prepared for welding and placed in the prefabricated channels, which were then filled with a flexible rail fastening compound.
 
 
What's next for technology?
Since receiving the Nowkuński Award, CONTRACK's offerings have consistently expanded, offering not only precast turnout slabs, but also concrete crossing slabs, curved slabs, integration slabs, inter-system inserts, and slabs with equalization devices.
